sa conventionThe SportAccord Convention was developed in order to help the sports movement become more efficient and sustainable in managing and administrating sport. Prior to the creation of the Convention, ASOIF, AIOWF and SportAccord (then known as GAISF), as well as the IOC Executive Board, each held separate annual meetings in different locations and at different times of the year. Now, we have one constructive annual meeting where on the same place officials gather all their resources.

What is `sustainable development`?

‘Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’, said Bruntland. But, it is also ‘A dynamic process which enables all people to realise their potential and improve their quality of life in ways which simultaneously protect and enhance the Earth’s life support systems’. There are efforts and aim to share ‘green ideas’ on how to become an environmentally responsible guest, organisation and event manager. This is the agenda to achieve in future times:

- Raise awareness and educate our audience regarding the relationship between sport and global citizenship.

- Bring positive benefits to the environment and society.

- Create a positive legacy, both socially and physically.
