This time it was not title fight, just prestige, but not ordinary prestige fight; it was the last fight of great Champion, former WAKO and WAKO PRO World Champion Salko Zildzic.
In front of 4.000 spectators the event was great with a lot of good fights with fighters from Bosnia, Turkey and Serbia.
Main fight started very slow in first round. There was a lot of respect between two great fighters.
At the end of first round they started to exchange very heavy punches and kicks.
Second round was beginning of the war. Chafay was down after hard punch and referee Goran Simurina decided to give him eight count. After one strong low kick of Salko which was blocked by Chafay both of them had injury on their legs.
It was not clear if they were able to continue.
In third round war continued and Chafay was down again after couple of tremendous punches by Salko. He got another eight count. He tried to come back but Salko was to good for him and next punch finished story... he was down again and referee counted him off.
It was great fight, real war, and Salko has proved once again that he is still Champion like he was for many, many years...

WAKO-PRO titles in Jagodina (Serbia)

Jagonida 2014 wakopro small

On last Friday, April 11, Serbian kickboxing federation and promoter Mr. Dragan Markovic in city of Jagodina hosted Wako Pro event. This time we had two Wako Pro title bouts.

In front of 3.000 spectators in sport hall "JASSA" first title bout was European title defense in low kick division, 64.500 kg.

Defender of the title was Italian fighter Marco De Paolis and Challenger Serbian Champion and amateur WAKO World Chjampion from Guaruja last year Aleksandar Konovalov.

Bout started very aggressive from Aleksandar Konovalov and from the very begging there was only one fighter between the ropes. Champion has tried to stop Challenger with some strong low kicks but there was no stop for him that night. After the combination of punches and kicks Konovalov delivered round house kick to Champion's chin, thundering kick that destroyed De Paolis. All we could see in first half of opening round was brutal power of Konovalov. Referee in charge Zarko Vukovic from Serbia had only one solution, to count Champion out and to declare new Wako Pro European Champion in low kick, 64.500 kg Aleksandar Konovalov from Serbia.

Main event of the evening was Wako Pro World title bout in low kick division, 62.200 kg. This title was vacant since Champion from Italy Alessandro Riguccini had to give it away due to an eye injury.

For this title we had two fighters from the ranking list, Milos Anic, ranked as No.1 and Ramazan Cicek, ranked as No.3. That was also re match since Ramazan Cicek has defeated Milos Anic in final of World championships held last year in Gurauja.

In opening round we could see easy start from both fighters but with some more action from Milos Anic and this round was in his favor. Second one was better for Cicek and it was equal. At the end of the round Ramazan Cicek scored one solid punch with his right hand and Milos was in trouble. But it was the end of the round so it was like "saved by the bell".

Next two rounds were little bit more for Milos Anic and the last one was all or nothing for Ramazan Cicek. He has tried everything and he won the last round but it was not enough to win the title.

Judges scored:

Judge No1. Zarko Vukovic from Serbia 49:48 for Anic

Judge No2. Tomislav Novosel from Croatia 48:47 for Cicek

Judge No3. Aleksandr Babin from Russia 50:47 for Anic

Winer by split decision and new Wako Pro World Champion in low kick division, 62.200 kg is Milos Anic from Serbia.

A.Sousa (POR) keeps his World title in Full contact Kg -94,100

wako-pro-germany2014 smallOn Saturday 29th March small and nice city of Munster in Germany hosted a WAKO PRO World title bout in full contact at Kg -94.100. Champion was Antonio De Sousa from Portugal, very strong and experience fighter with a lot of great fights under his record.

Challenger was one of the best fighters in the World in this class, Eugene Waigel from Germany, two times World and one time European WAKO Champion.
Promoter of the event was Mr. Antonino Spatola, well known promoter and coach from Germany.

In front of 1.000 spectators in his own town Eugene Waigel tried his best against the Portuguese. He started first round very well with calm and easy attacks, holding Champion on distance. On the other side Antonio tried to get inside from the very first moment with big and heavy punches. Eugene was going backward protecting himself and leting Antonio to come forward. In couple of times he made solid punches to Antonios head and body. In this round Champion was too slow for Eugene and could not reach him.

Second round started very aggressive from Champion who was going forward and "head hunting" Challenger. However Eugene was able to keep the distance and to deliver a lot of good, strong punches. Almost at the end of the round Champion caught Eugene in the ropes and they started to exchange big, big hits. One of this thunders reached Challengers head and he was down. It was bad knock down. Referee in charge Dirk Schallhorn from Germany started to count. When he came to eight Eugene did not look at him ready to continue so he decided to count him off.
Unfortunately too soon that was the end of the fight...

Challenger won the first round and even during second he was little bit better but he made huge mistake because let Champion to come closer and start in fight which is his best side. In one of this exchanges he got final punch that decided winner. It was a pity to have such a great fight with great fighters to end so soon but it happened.
One punch decided winner so WAKO PRO World Champion in full contact Kg -94,100 is still Antonio De Sousa from Portugal.

Referee - Dirk Schallhorn (GER)
Judge 1 - Michaela Kovachova (SVK)
Judge 2 - Marco Pacor (ITA)
Judge 3 - Piero Sicurella (BEL)
Supervisor - Srdjan Bugarcic (SRB)
